The Thorp Public Library provides free wireless internet access throughout the building via an open, unsecured wireless network. Library staff does not provide technical assistance with wireless access, and will not under any circumstances make changes to the configuration of a privately owned wireless device.
Wireless internet will be available during open library hours.
No guarantee is provided that a wireless device will be able to make a successful connection.
The use of wireless internet in the library is governed by the Library’s Internet Policy.
It is strongly recommended that you do not use such a network to transmit personal, financial or legal data. It is not possible for the Library to protect you against malicious theft or interception of such data transmitted over our network.
The Library cannot assure that data or files downloaded by users are virus-free. The Library is not responsible for damages to equipment or data on a privately owned wireless device from the use of data downloaded from the Library’s wireless internet services.
The Library does not supply or loan network cards, laptop computers or any other computer accessory that might be required for accessing wireless internet.
Individual users will be responsible for all costs associated with purchase, installation, operation, and support of wireless adapters in personal computers or any wireless device.
Any attempt to break into or gain unauthorized access to any computers or systems from a wireless connection is prohibited. Any effort to circumvent the security systems designed to prevent unauthorized access to the Library’s wireless network may result in suspension of all access.
Any restriction or monitoring of a minor’s access to the Library’s wireless network is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Users are expected to abide by the policies above, as well as the Thorp Public Library Internet Policy. Unacceptable use of the service will result in the suspension of all Internet use privileges.
